Nikon D5300 is the main camera that I use. It provides a good image size and very good low light performance.
Nikon 35mm f/1.8G a good fast 50mm equivalent. I find this a good lens for taking photos of my son and for taking landscapes, there’s so little in the way of distortion of lines that everything looks very natural in architecture.
Nikon 50mm f/1.4G is a wonderful fast prime which works extremely well for portraits and general use. This becomes about 75mm effective focal length and sits at the sweet spot for a lot of candid shots when sitting in a small group or at a restaurant. It also works well at the many restaurants which have started a all out war against light.
Nikon 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G for wildlife shots. This lens does very well for wildlife shots and stitched panorama shots, it does however make you lazy and take photographs of buildings or trees from a great distance when you could just walk up to them. Of course, having a long perspective on things when you want it is perfectly fine, I just try to check myself for laziness.
Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX Is a great ultra wide angle lens. This lens tends to sit at 10mm, just as the 55-300mm sits at 300mm, and produces really cool images. I’m still playing with this lens, trying to work out what looks good and not just weird. The image Moored longboats at Baits Bite Lock is one of the first that I’ve liked enough to publish although in my opinion it has its own faults.
Kata 3N1 20 sling/backpack for carrying it all in. This is quite a backpack and hardly feels like you’re carrying it even with a lot of equipment in it.
